Visual Designer

Role

Daylight Design Munich is looking for a visual designer who will get to work on projects that delight users (and colleagues) with high quality visuals and compelling stories that inspire, engage and excite them.

Responsibilities

The role is a nice mix of design for interaction (UI/UX, design systems) and some design for communication (brand, print, and visual storytelling). Activities include:

  • Crafting interfaces for consumer (for profit and non-profit clients) and business  applications
  • Creating design systems - typography, color, icons, grid systems, etc.
  • Tell engaging stories of people, projects and brands through compelling graphics, illustrations, infographics
  • Collaborate and work seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team of interaction designers, design researchers, project managers to align on objectives and goals and iteratively develop the best solutions
  • Work on a variety of projects - from broad, explorative prompts to occasionally pixel perfect for shipping
  • Create concepts that really push the bar in terms of quality 
  • Go out in the field to build empathy with real users and to document research learnings for analysis
  • Collaborate with teams from our other offices in San Francisco and Seoul and perhaps even travel to these locations if/when project demands
  • Presenting work back to clients collaborating directly with clients

  • Ebenbuild - Increasing survival rates of patients with acute respiratory distress by creating a digital lung “twin”
  • UNDP - Helping advance the UN Sustainable Development Goals through Impact Investing
  • Melon - ​​Transforming Korea's top music streaming service into a holistic music experience

Requirements
  • Great visual intuition and a high level of visual/graphic design craft
  • A degree in either graphic design, visual design or interaction design
  • The ability to apply their skills broadly
  • Enough technical understanding and/or curiosity to learn to create interactive digital prototypes using Figma, Protopie, etc.
  • 2+ years of agency/freelance/in-house experience or a talented recent graduate in graphic design/communication design/interaction design
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and clients to solve problems
  • Willingness to push beyond the obvious solution to find the best one 
  • Ideally experience in shipping products 
  • Understanding of and ideally experience in design thinking (human-centered design) methodology
  • Eagerness to learn from a breadth of design talents, experiences and backgrounds working on problems with real impact
  • Familiarity with collaborative design and prototyping software (e.g. Figma, Framer, etc.)
  • Fluent English skills 
  • German language skills a significant bonus

We’re specifically looking for someone who lives (or is willing to relocate to) the Munich area. Hybrid work might be considered in exceptional cases.
